Well, I just booked coach tickets so Beast and I are all set to go to our first rally on Saturday, in support of abortion rights. Parliament Square at 1pm, anyone else going?

I find I am utterly devoid of ideas for a pithy sign - any suggestions?

I think I might go with the classic, Every child a wanted child. If I had my way, any woman who wanted an abortion for any reason would be able to get one quickly, easily and inexpensively, but sadly this is not the case. However, the blighters who are trying to get it stopped are not to be tolerated.

Ah, I assumed you were in Ireland, trying to get abortion legalised for the first time - they are having a BIG public vote at the moment[1].

The cabinet, meeting on International Women’s Day, approved a bill on Thursday allowing the long-anticipated referendum to go ahead.

Voters will be asked if they want to repeal article 40.3.3 – known as the eighth amendment – which since 1983 has given unborn foetuses and pregnant women an equal right to life, effectively enshrining a ban on abortion in the country’s constitution.

I'm actually in England, where abortion rights actually exist, than goodness. However, the US-influenced idiots shrieking outside clinics and generally protesting the very idea of abortion because they are so flaming stupid are becoming more prevalent here, and I want to stand up and say they must not have their way.

And maybe, in a very small way, standing up against that nonsense here encourages people elsewhere in the world who have a whole lot more work to do.

I think the Irish situation is appalling. I've never been even slightly impressed by the Catholic church. A lot of Irish women (and girls) come to the UK to terminate unwanted pregnancies.

"Against abortion? Get a vasectomy!" (Not mine. I saw that online somewhere and LOVED it, because YES.)
