My cats met the hedgehog yesterday.

I'd seen it around the place a couple of times, once at the front, and once trundling across the crisp, pale grass. I'm in favour of tiggywinkles, partly because they're cute, and partly because they can eat all the slugs in the garden and I shall be very happy with that. (Would that they could also eat the muntjak which have been nomming my butternut squash plant *again*.)

So I saw the cats sitting staring at the hedgehog, which was just standing there between them. Sable looked baffled; Fluffy was a bit more intent, but neither of them made any move to… investigate. I assume I missed the Cat Tries to Subdue Hedgehog, Cat Soundly Rebuffed by Spikes stage of the proceedings. Eventually, the hodmedod trundled insouciantly off and hid in the border, and the cats went about their business elsewhere.

I wore shorts to the gym today. Classmates just had to deal with the gruesome sight of my muscular legs, it was too damn hot to wear normal leggings. I emerged raspberry-coloured and dripping from step (TMI: when I went to the loo after the class, my knickers were damp with sweat, ew), and went to the yoga class on the badminton court, since our yoga studio was rather like a steam oven. It is probably about typical for a gym's aircon to cease working during the summer, but we have had such a prolonged hot spell that the heat never leaves the building.

I'm wearing shorts all the time, now, and I have short, fat, hairy legs that would make Ernie Wise envious.

My husband has been spotted (by me at any rate) crossing the garden wearing his wellies and boxers. He has very odd knees.
