A link to tattoos that look like embroidery, and are frankly pretty stunning. There is some serious skill involved, as the 'stitches' really look as though they stand proud of the skin. Amazing. I think the second one (red and orange roses down someone's spine) and third (blue fabulousness on arm) and the most stunning, but the cross-stitch variants are also remarkable. Works of art.

I bethought me I should make some 'North and South' icons, to see if I remember how (turns out I shall have to do them on my old computer, as the implementation of Photoshop on this one is lacking in so many ways). Anyway, in searching for images, I found this:

(click to embiggen)
I am enraptured by Richard Armitage as John Thornton, but the above does look like excellent casting (even if he's Yorkshire rather than Lancashire!).

Lots of good reactions to our concert were read out at last night's rehearsal. People really enjoyed the Pirate set, which doesn't surprise me (because basically, it's a really good idea). Indeed, it is an emotional concept, and it's gratifying that some of the people were moved almost to tears! But, long experience of listening to people emerging from shows at the Boxmoor Playhouse has taught me that audiences are not exacting critics. Qs we don't have a NODA reviewer at our concerts, nobody is ever going to point out places where they can be improved. I'm going to have to let this go, grrrr!!! Ah, well. We won't be doing the Pirate set after our next Convention, I don't suppose.

I suspect you're right and you will have to let it go, but it's a shame you have to do so.
