Sable was making quite a bit of noise this evening. Because she was playing with a GIANT MOUSE. A very lively giant mouse, which escaped her. She left the house in a miff, leaving me with a GIANT MOUSE in my sitting room.

I am Not Happy.

well, no wonder you're Not Happy! Sable needs a strong talking to - she's obviously got the wrong idea of what to do with a mouse (hint - don't play with it then leave it live in the sitting room)

This is why I no longer have a cat flap. So many mice. One of my cats once even brought in a crow. WTF kitty.

That's the worst :( River used to bring mice in and leave them for me to chase out when she got bored with them.

I think every time you post a cat & mouse anecdote, I pretty much always respond with some form of all-caps 'NO', and -- this time's no different. NOPE. NUH-UH. NO.

It occurs to me this morning that perhaps she intended it as a pet? After all, she was talking to it, much as I talk to her. And it did not co-operate.

A CROW!! That is badass. My Princess Fluffykins twice brought a live pigeon through the cat flap. It is amazing how many feathers there are on a pigeon.

Hah. She should know by now that we don't want to kill our own meat. Hmph.

The crow was alive as well. I had to catch it. It was traumatic for both of us. :D

Last seen, it had hidden under one of the sofas. I have little faith in our ability to scoop it up in the dustpan - the usual recourse - so as far as I know it is Still There. Woe.

The live ones are the worst. My Beast has now given me fresh chills by asking whether a mouse would be able to negotiate the stairs. I may never sleep again.

Not that I particularly appreciate corpses around the house - we have had several, including a rat and a squirrel (!!!) - but at least they don't run away when you (and for 'you' read 'Beast') attempt to dispose of them.

Sable is complaining again now. Or possibly, calling for the mouse to come and play with her. She is making a lot of fuss!

Yikes! I live in fear that my very small cat will attack the crow that regularly lands in our garden. Handling a live crow must be a scary business!

It was super scared, or I don't think I would've been able to touch it.

Oof, yeah, I'm not sure whether I hate the corpses or the live prey more. To be honest I'd really prefer to keep the next cat we get indoors to sidestep this issue; River pre-dated me in the flat so she was already set in her ways but when I'm around from the beginning I would much prefer to not do this whole thing.

Sable is getting as bad as Fluffy was bringing wild creature into the house!
