Well, it seems to be generally agreed that the FandomGiftBox Challenge for 2021 has disintegrated into nothingness. Hmph. First time I've every participated, too.

But I am charmed to be able to report that I received a perfect little double drabble here from frausorge, providing me with the proper ending for 'Sense and Sensibility'. \o/

I just posted a bunch of icons I made for one giftbox. I also ficced, which is kind of amazing given my inability to write at the moment.

Sea-Colored Eyes for turps (Popslash, of course)


Pepsi and Chateauneuf du Pape for xslytherclawx (a Mad Men story which just... arrived, much to my surprise)

And two Star Trek: The Next Generation stories: Stuck in the Big Chair, a Riker story for sixbeforelunch, and An Odd State of Flux, a Data story for River_Song.

I feel I did well, though I'm disappointed not to have managed the sonnet I tried to produce.

I’m holding out hope that the mod will return at some point—it’s been a strange year so anything might have happened to make them unavailable for a time—but yeah I think we can assume that the collection won’t open on time. Unfortunately I won be able to post my fic until I get back home.

It would be nice to know what went wrong - sudden radio silence is so frustrating, isn't it. Especially this year, it's not reasonable to assume the mod(s) just flaked for no reason at all, but it's annoying not to have an explanation.

I think that is why everyone started to get worried, because usually there are reminder posts and a list of unfilled boxes that comes out near the end of July, so when that didn't happen everyone started getting nervous.

Having not done it before I didn't really know what it would look like - got very confused early on, but I think I'd been doing all the right things, so it was disappointing that it didn't really work out.

Wow, you were highly productive! It's definitely a pity the challenge didn't get posted as originally planned. But I'm glad people are sharing what they made even outside that framework. And I'm delighted you enjoyed the S&S bit - as I said over there, I concur wholeheartedly that things should have settled out this way! ♥

It's hard to know what it would have looked like if the challenge had gone as planned. I was sorta expecting not to receive much, being as how my fandoms are all 'old' ones. But I suspect a lot of people don't really get creating until the deadline is almost upon them, and with the challenge apparently petered out, probably didn't bother at all.

It's always a disappointment when a challenge peters out like that but it must be even more so when you've been as productive as you have! I really feel for you!

It is disappointing! I have 'gifted' the stories on AO3, but it isn't really the same, I don't suppose. Oh well.

I'm sorry it petered out! I understand being busy, but I always wish mods of those things would just hand it over to someone else. I know no one wants to give up their "baby," but if people have been working hard, honor that.

I totally forgot about Fandomgiftbox, I signed, life got busy and with no reminders, it just slipped out of my head.
