it's all in the plan
Oct. 9th, 2023 09:36 pmSo, I've had a Covid booster and a flu jab, a Macmillan Coffee Morning and a Leads section rehearsal since last I posted here.
The coffee morning went very nicely and raised £320, which I think is good? I know the couple who used to run the MCMs have managed as much as £1,000 in the past (how???) but that doesn't seem to be within my range, particularly since only one of the neighbours came, and only two members of my chorus. Well, one of them I specifically asked along to help as she is so good at making people feel welcome!
The afternoon follow-up on Sunday afternoon, designed to scoop up people who were working on Friday morning and therefore couldn't attend, was too sparsely attended to be worth repeating next time, but it was enlivened by my remembering half way through that my Beast was supposed to be getting his Covid jab at, well, rather earlier than whatever time it was. He fled in haste to the surgery—only ten minutes away at speed of Beast—and was able to get done anyway. I had had mine at the end of Saturday afternoon, rather more conveniently.
Our flu jabs were yesterday, and we were also having people round for lunch. Having prepared everything beautifully, I then forgot to put the vegetables into the hot oven before we went off to the (different) surgery, so they had to go in the second we got back, and our guests arrived mere moments after that. However, we had a good lunch and delightful conversation. The guests in question are leaving to go and live in China quite soon.... I hope they come back hereabouts when their stint over there is done.
Today we went into the city for various bits and bobs of shopping. It is so warm for October! But due to revert to more seasonal temperatures on about Wednesday. Sweater weather, yay!

A rather interesting article about California condors getting flu jabs. With some splendid pictures of a baby condor being 'raised' by a plushie condor and by a human apparently disguised as a heap of leaves.
