2015 writing
Dec. 30th, 2015 07:39 pmIt’s not really a meme at this point, as I wrote so little, but a round-up of what I did manage to produce in 2015. But I’ve read all the MTYG stories, and it isn’t really fair for me to play Guess The Author as I already know so much about who wrote what.
I always count my MTYG stories in the year of the reveal, so the two I wrote for 2014 go here.
There was in porco, veritas (a title of which I am immensely proud), written for
nopseud. Inevitably a Brian pairing (because the alternative was Backstreet GSF), but fortunately for me, Brian/Lance, conveniently knocking off another rarity from my ever decreasing list of Pairings I Have Not Written.
In the end I had a lot of fun with this, including quite a lot of apparently random references (pink fairy armadillo! degus! topless Brian video!) and even the aforementioned Backstreet GSF, with added sparkle. It felt like ‘classic’ popslash, with the inclusion of an inexplicable slash fairy godpiglet. And why not, after all. The world could do with more slash fairy godpiglets, I feel sure.
I picked up a pinch-hit, too, and produced Hair, in which Nick meets Sphynkter. Inevitable, you might think, but in the howevermany years since I Just Want You To Know came out, apparently nobody else thought of it. I win!
The only other story I produced during 2015 was Perceptions of Reality, sequel to the previous year’s Dragon Country. I was particularly pleased with JC’s missing parent, who turned out well. Being a sequel, this one doesn’t get posted under 2015 on my website, so this year’s MTYG story, when it arrives there, will look horribly lonely.
In terms of words produced I only reached 34,000 or so, less than the original Dragon Country story the previous year, which makes me very sad. As MTYG proves every time, there are still fresh popslash stories to be written. I hope my popslash peeps are reading them.
