Of blackberries and wasted time
Aug. 5th, 2006 07:23 pmBun and I spent several hours today sitting in a shrouded church hall. I had agreed to take a table at the art & craft fair arranged for the local branch of Lupus UK, at the suggestion of a friend who has the disease. In the end, I made a reasonable sum (three fifths of it because the very same friend turned up in the afternoon and bought three oval suncatchers and a giant card), but at lunchtime it looked as though £10 would be the total, and given that I'd paid a fiver for the table and owed 10% of sale receipts as well, I wasn't exactly enraptured.
Was also too bored to write either the final scene of the unicorn fic or the steamy fic or even the frog one. Sudoku'd instead, getting two thirds of the way through a 16x16 before realising it was FUBAR.
Gah.
However, once we got home I hauled the whole family out to go blackberrying. So it's crumble for supper! Plus, possibly, West Indian food - it seems there's a local business which will deliver meals at weekends, and I definitely have to give that a try.
And I have spent much of the past few days out in the conservatory, painting and listening to Josephine Tey's Daughter of Time, as read by Derek Jacobi, plus a bit of Psmith, which is something I've not done for a long while. So the incentive of a craft fair was worth having. I haven't made *any* icons this week. It's quite novel, voting on icontests I've not entered!
