Dec. 21st, 2006 12:09 amI think the northern half of England was entirely blanketed by fog today. Bun, Beast and I went to Lincoln to see Pa, not a particularly pleasant drive.
Still, he was in his wheelchair instead of languishing in bed, and able to drink by himself (no beer, though), and eat smushed food rather than only hospital soup. Also, his back muscles seem to be doing good work, and he has some feeling (pain!) in his left hand, which is apparently a good sign. He's been doing physio, and having his peripheral vision assessed, as there may well be loss of focus in the left eye. His talking seemed to improve as our visit went on, possibly because we were better at understanding, possibly it was practice, possibly it was due to having his teeth in once Yaya arrived!
Yaya is doing a fantastic job of looking after him. Bringing in a variety of interesting things to drink, and so forth. We left the Boy's unwanted iPod, loaded up with classical lollipops, Cleo Laine, Bryn Terfel and Cold Comfort Farm, in the hopes it will help while away a few hours. Pa has been watching telly, a bit, but still gets pretty much worn out by the end of the day.
It was good to see some progress, and hard to know what Yaya might ask the consultant tomorrow.
I haven't posted about my Pa having a stroke - a month ago - until now. And right now, probably everyone is too busy with SeSa panic to notice, which just about suits me.
In completely unrelated news, I found myself watching Stargate Atlantis last week, and I liked it. Was consequently glad to be home by 9pm this evening. Hmm.
