Jan. 15th, 2007 09:23 amI spent four hours yesterday listening to people read Shakespeare (not very well). Auditions, for our May production of Twelfth Night - all the Drama committee were going for parts, so I was asked to sit on the panel. (Curse it - I'd have loved to have a go at Maria myself, but since I'm directing our other show this spring, that's not an option.) It was a Good Thing to have so many people show up - for a Shakespeare audition! wow! - but, well, there's a down side. However, there's a promising cast lining up very nicely. More auditions to come, though, since the ideal version of this cast... lacks a Viola.
Now, I need to find a good tenor who looks plausibly like a romantic lead, and a pretty soprano who can sing - no, I won't demand the top C (or was it an E???) that's in the score, but Quite High Anyway. Hmm.
I restored Bun to Bristol last Thursday, amidst torrents of rain. Have admonished her to send in her own Camp Sparkle registration form (assuming she has no unfortunate timetabling issues). I see we have hit our fifteen registered participants already, and I know there are at least four more due to sign up, yay, so we shall have a merry throng.
Finally, last week's icon winnings, one of which really looks as though it belongs here!
