Grr. My computer's video card is old and worn and unreliable, so that at intervals I get strange effects all over the screen. Apple are being rather slow about finding me a replacement. On the good side, though, I'm using screensavers instead of putting it to sleep - it's very bad about waking up, rather like me - and get to see a lot of pretty pictures. Started off using the 'galactic' screensaver but I now have it set to use any folder, so I see pictures of all kinds. 'Tis pretty.
1. "You'll Never Walk Alone", from 'Carousel' (Rodgers and Hammerstein) My version is by Cleo Laine, but that was impossible to guess.
2. "Hi Ho Silver Lining" by Jeff Beck seems to have baffled everyone.
3. "Witchcraft", which I confess I wouldn't have known. I should listen to the Sinatra CD more often.
4. "Heard it through the grapevine" by Marvin Gaye
5. Another which seems to have everyone stumped, "You're Looking at Me", sung by Cleo Laine. Very clever song.
6. Heh! "Toreador Song" from Carmen, sung in this instance by Bryn Terfel. There'd have been more classical ones, but that I couldn't make out the words from most of them.
7. "Dream a Little Dream of Me" The Mamas and the Papas.
8. Can't think why nobody got "It might as well rain until September", I thought that one was easy. My version is by Carole King, who probably wrote the song, but I think Helen Shapiro did the more famous one.
9. Aha. "Flowers in the Rain" by The Move.
10. "Good Vibrations" by The Beach Boys.
11. "Oh! Look at me now", another one off the Sinatra collection.
12. "She's Not There" by The Zombies.
13. "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" by The Hollies.
14. "Send in the Clowns", my version being Cleo Laine, but there are many, the one that made it into the charts was by Judy Collins. From 'A Little Night Music' by Sondheim.
15. "Downtown" by Petula Clark.
Thanks for playing!
