pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (DO AS I TELL YOU)
I don't seem to have updated in ten whole days, dear me. In fairness, we have a resident FIL now, and have in consequence been doing more gardening than usual—when the 91-year-old is outside digging, and the sun is shining, it does feel a bit... not right to be sitting inside at the computer. We have also been house-hunting in a fairly concentrated way, but sadly, the best option we have found so far is *wildly* overpriced. Hmph.

I wrote a long musing about the subtle differences between British tablespoons and American ones—the British one being essentially an actual spoon, and the American one being a concept—but I wrote it in my head and have forgotten it. Whatever.

When I got back from knitting at Biddy's this evening, it appeared (in the car's headlights) that our wooden fence had been visited by an Arcturan mega-slug. A huge, tangled trail of slime most of the way up the fence. Ew.

I have been deriving much entertainment (and a modicum of education) from MetaFilter of late. How about this, a plea for gender-swapped versions of movies? I approve. Also the header has a rainbow-coloured bull with a uni-horn.

And there was this fascinating article on face-recognisers, plus, if you have time for it, a facial recognition/memory test. I scored 93%, yay me! The faces are all white men, btw. But it was a cool test to do.
