there were never such devoted sisters
Nov. 6th, 2022 10:54 pmOne of the big gates into the back garden blew open in the wind a couple of days ago. And a fence panel blew off. Oddly, though, both went *into* the back garden, although they are at opposite ends of it. There must have been a very odd gust going the wrong way that took out the fence panel.
Two muntjak took advantage, of course, and came into the back garden to nom my delicious new plants! I roared at them and they fled. We have now barricaded the gap, augmenting the fence panel (propped, it's too heavy for the two of us to manage to reinstall) with bits of wire panel and a couple of dustbins half-filled with water. I think we have defeated the deer.

It was my Bun's birthday on Friday, so yesterday we went for lunch at a rather nice restaurant in the city. Very tasty, and it was lovely to see her and her man, and also my Boy. Who is having dishwasher problems, but who has managed to get a cleaning service going and got his fence replaced, so he's doing all right.
Did not go to any Fireworks yesterday evening, and didn't even see any, although there were some thunderous noises from somewhere not that far away. Sable is fortunately not terrified by loud bangs, and clearly felt that being snuggled next to my leg was a better bet than fleeing into the night. (I keep trying to lure her onto my belly, which would be splendidly soft and kneadable, but she is not having it.)

Watched a rather fun show on Apple TV called Bad Sisters. I got quite emotionally involved with it, and went to bed a couple of nights ago feeling extremely worried that someone in particular would end up dead. The show is about five sisters, one of whom is married to The Prick, a manipulative, malicious and selfish piece of shit. The sisters who aren't married to him decide he should die, but despite the best of intentions they are rather incompetent at murdering. Their lives are further complicated by a pair of brothers who are the local insurance brokers.
I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it. The sisters are great, and the humour quite dark.
There is a lot of good stuff on Apple TV. If you're hesitating about it, I recommend you give it a try.
