pensnest: Queen Latifah with starry background (Queen Latifah as Mama Morton)
Dear me, I must gat back into the habit of posting. I don't think I've even been posting in my head, there has been much to do. I needed to learn another song (sans teach traqck) to perform to the mixed chorus when they came round for bring-and-share lunch here last Sunday. 29 degrees! Amazing bounce in temperature from about 17 the week before. We were very glad of the shade from the giant beech tree. And I learned that I have a couple of rare weeds growing. Yay?

Most of my plants are now out in the veg beds or flower beds, just in time to be toasted. I suspect the haul of vegetables will be pathetic this year. Still, I couldn't resist a few extra flowers at the garden centre when I went to buy marigolds (to go with the tomatoes), so I now have a purple elderberry bushlet, the kind with very dark leaves and stems, and pink flowers. Now I'm worrying about what happens to all the plants while we are away at Camp. Sigh.

Oh yes - the bees seem to have swarmed. Not sure if there are still occupants in either of the hives, but there do still seem to be some honey bees around. The chap who 'owns' them has not been around at all this year, so I guess it's not surprising they are doing their own bee thing.

I have today found the leisure to do a bit of acrylic pouring. Two small canvasses using a straw to create flaring textures across the middles, and one which has been most successful in making cells. When it is dry I think I shall have to try and be very clever with it. We shall see.

Met up with most of my knitting group + my daughter on Saturday for tea at Harriet's Tea Room, which was very good. Bun wanted some fancy but block-heeled shoes for a wedding, which is a very big ask, apparently. Can't think why we didn't look in Imelda's, though.

My best friend and her man came to visit last week, so we were quite busy. Showed them a bit of Norwich—Bridewell museum, Plantation Gardens, RC cathedral, market and Jarrolds Food Hall, with a highly carnivorous lunch at Estabulo, then we did East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens, which was (as expected) completely fabulous at this time of year. They did the tour, but I had failed to book so the two of us just showed up later. And I introduced them to Schmigadoon!

Watched an episode of Ted Lasso over lunch today which made me laugh so, so much—mostly at Roy Kent's sheer delight. It was the episode with the red string. Also a very moving and all-the-feels type episode, which is of course my favourite kind.
