Okay, what the fuck???

I went to my LJ friends page, and noticed little tinny noises coming from the headphones, so I put them on... and got an American female voice announcing that I was 'watching' Chic reports, or something like that.

I thought at first it was related to the first Friends link I'd clicked on, but there didn't appear to be anything relevant on that page, and when I closed the tab, the voice persisted. I closed the entire window, and it went. Opened a fresh window, repeat, there's that voice again, telling me that the Australian New Top Model announced the wrong winner... WTF?

On the third or fourth time of opening a new window, the voice started, and abruptly cut off.

I have a permanent LJ account, and no other windows opened. Anyone?

My first guess would have been someone posting a video on auto-play but you say there wasn't anything relevant on the page so that's probably not it.

Were you logged in when this happened? If you weren't, it might have been an ad.

Otherwise I'd just assume LJ's screwing up again. It's been working like shit for me all week so that wouldn't surprise me at all.

Yep—I was logged in, and there wasn't any kind of auto-play on the friend's page that I opened. Though I did wonder if that person had a free account and there were ads on her page. But, the stuff persisted even when it was just my own page open!

Weird LJ glitch, I suppose. Very weird.

I heard something about this a few weeks ago, happening with LJ and I can't remember what the answer was... bother... but it WAS LJ related, and supposedly they'd fixed it. Except for the part where it seems to be back. :p

It was so strange! I generally tend to forget that there are even ads anywhere on LJ, because of course I don't see them (I suppose I should go and see what poor severalplums looks like. To get unexpected audio was... unexpected!
