Oct. 22nd, 2010 11:59 pmOh, dear LAWD I want these boots. I think my Lance has just found Adam's birthday present and is wondering whether to add a matching cock ring bracelet.
FIL's house sale has, in the nick of time, Exchanged Contracts. He should have the money to buy a dwelling in Tasmania while we are out there trying to help him find one. (Assuming I survive the flight. I think I'm getting a cold. Woe. I hate aeroplanes.) We have spent much of the day sorting out financial details that banks were being unhelpful about—astonishingly, pension services seem to be quite willing to sort things out within two minutes, which helped a lot. Just as well, since FIL flies out tomorrow.
Watched 'Master and Commander', which Beast discovered in our DVD collection, rather to my surprise. Much better than I expected. Interesting collection of recognisable faces—Paul Bettany being surprisingly beautiful, and there was Baby!Justin!Boy ie the really good Octavian from "Rome" but even younger. Like, nine. And Pippin.
We spent yesterday in Norwich with the brats. The cat survived the journey reasonably well but was thoroughly bewildered to find herself in an alien world when we arrived, refused to come out of her shuttlecraft for ages, and was last seen hiding behind the sofa. I dare say she will have claimed a domain by the time we go to fetch her back. Bun will probably enjoy having a pet to stroke, even if Socks isn't quite as fascinating as her flatmate's snake. (That would sound even more dubious if I'd typed 'pussycat' instead of 'pet', wouldn't it...)
I have achieved a... portion of my Kradam holiday exchange fic. Have severe doubt that I shall finish it before we leave, though. *grrr*

Date: 2010-10-23 06:47 am (UTC)Whee Norwich! We were out last night but during the day, of course, at work in offices around there.
Paul Bettany is ALWAYS surprisingly beautiful, even in godawful hairpieces.

When do you depart for distant shores? It seems all is moving apace.

Date: 2010-10-23 07:54 pm (UTC)I think FIL wants to move there... because it's his dream. Why it's his dream, I'm not sure, but he likes to spend most of his time gardening, and wants a milder winter to do it in. No, no family in Tasmania—his brother lives near Perth, but FIL and his brother do not get on. I dunno, really. I worry, because FIL is an odd mix of practicality and helplessness. He's had a lot to sort out, of course, but for the last couple of days he's been covering the last few items; sadly, he's a "glass half empty" person, who exclaimed to his elder son (who came to the airport to see him off) that the last two days had been a nightmare, so much had gone wrong... in fact, everything has been *sorted out* in the last couple of days, so. Ah well.
I shall attempt to put up frequent reports while we're away!

Date: 2010-10-24 09:38 pm (UTC)Wow, that's a lot of last minute stuff going on with your FIL's move. I'm surprised you're all still sane.
Best of luck with the Kradam!

Date: 2010-10-23 07:42 pm (UTC)We've just got back from Heathrow, where Adrian also met us to say goodbye to Grandpa. He doesn't take off until ten, but had to check in three hours early. Still, we relieved him of one of his mighty suitcases and will have to haul it around ourselves on Tuesday.
