I'm trying to train the cat to understand that I don't have to be in the kitchen for there to be food.

But the food dispenser hasn't opened yet.

She is now lying on the floor next to me, Dying Of Hunger.

Don't worry—if you'd met my cat you would know she is, ahem, rather on the portly side. Waiting another twenty minutes won't do her any harm!

Haha, yes. Leland, y'know, nearly died of not eating (well, probably had underlying causes that the vet couldn't diagnose, but was starving himself), and the way I got him to eat again was by sitting with him in the kitchen and petting him while he ate. And now he needs that in order to eat. *headdesk*

But you know, if it keeps our doofus furkids going, I guess it's what we do, right?

It's miraculous how my cat knows when I set foot on the floor in the morning. She doesn't bother to make a noise when Beast gets out of bed as he only feeds her if I'm not in the house—but the minute I'm up, there are cries of hunger. But she's completely indifferent to me once she has her face in her food, of course.

But yes, we do what we must!
