There seems to be a repeating pattern of Who episodes starting out as puzzles, devoid of emotional connection, just there for the viewer to try and figure out what is going on. By the end of the episode, there's emotion... but it is very unsettling to have no connection at all at the beginning. I don't like it.

*with you* I've been engaged while watching Who this season. I just find that I simply don't care about it, and that's a dealbreaker for me as far as TV shows are concerned.

The episodes I liked best are the ones that seemed to have least to do with the overall amazingly complex multi-reality given-up-on-understanding-it series arc.

It's such a shame, too, as I really enjoyed Eleven's first season. But yes, that ridiculously complex multi-reality arc is just... bleah. I'd rather have a season theme than something that requires hours of study to understand.

Apparently a lot of kids have been enjoying it? Which is great. I honestly never thought I'd miss RTD as showrunner, especially after the hash of Ten's exit, but a little less complexity and a little more heart would be so welcome. The balance has tipped too far the other way for my preference - and I know it's not made for my preference, but I want so much to be able to love Who again.

Exactly - less complexity, more heart. I mean, I *really* like this Doctor, I ought to be able to love the show.

I've been pretty disappointed by this series. The only episode I really liked was last week's.

I did have enormous love for the embodied TARDIS, but overall... the season's definitely a bit bleh. Which is weird, because it ought to have been awesome.
