Does anybody know how a person gets into proof reading and/or copy editing (I realise these are not the same thing)? Are there qualifications that make a difference?
Hmm, I do some proof reading for an e-publishing company. I got into because someone on my flist posted a link to their website. I had to take a test, and if I want to move up to copy editing, I'm going to have to take another test. So, poke around onine publishers? The company I work for is Etopia Press, whose website is being renovated right now. Also, it pays like .0000001 cent per word. :)
That sounds like a plausible way to start. My son - to my great surprise - mentioned to me last night that he wondered if this might be something he could do. If he can do it without leaving the house, and even be paid a pittance as well, so much the better. Thanks!
