WTF, LJ? WTFingF?

I'm trying quite hard to post something to a beta filter. It won't let me. I get:

Bad Unicode Input

Your browser sent some text which is not recognised as valid text in the UTF-8 encoding, as it should be. This might happen if you forced your browser to view the previous page in some other encoding rather than UTF-8. It may also indicate a bug in the browser. If you cannot get around this error, contact us.

What is going on? I have html posting turned on, I have em and center coding and bugger all else and the rest of it is text, so WTF?

Huh? That sounds really weird. I don't think I've ever heard that one before. What is your browser's text/character encoding set to? I sometimes I have to fiddle with it when I'm trying to read some Swedish websites, but it's incredibly rare.

I actually have no idea what my browser's text/character encoding is set to. I do know the weirdest thing in the file in question was é, which just isn't that exotic. Basically, hmph!

You can find out under View -> Character Encoding (Firefox) or View -> Text Encoding (Safari). On Safari it's usually set to Default, at least it is in mine, but in Firefox I've got it set to UTF-8.

You too, I spent three minutes trying to login. I kept getting 404 Error. Sometimes LJ makes me paranoia.

Yeah - I wanted to leave a comment on someone else's journal earlier today; it had 'em' tags and a user name in, and LJ insisted there was bad input, even though the preview looked perfect.
