I've just had a delightful weekend chez nopseud with ephemera and archie_gremlin. It turned out to be an unexpectedly sporty weekend as we have all been infected with Olympics fever. Good time for it, too, as we watched (and yelled for and cheered over) *three* British gold medals, and were also completely delighted with the magnificently barmy cycling event in which competitors are eaten by sharks eliminated from the rear. Best format ever!

And I have just turned on the BBC's web coverage to discover that ANDY MURRAY won the gold in the men's singles. Bloody hell! Cracking start in the mixed doubles, too. I'm amazed Centre Court isn't packed, though oddly, there are some furries there.

Sounds like an excellent time! I've been rooting for several British athletes too, actually, as ours aren't doing that well (nor do we even have somebody in every sport). It's always fun to win in front of a home audience!

Yesterday was astonishing - and it was particularly fun to be watching events with enthusiastic company. We'd none of us expected to be as interested in the Olympics as we ended up being.
