Happy New Year, to everyone for whom 2012/2013 is a valid Thing.

Resolutions, again:

1. I managed to keep one of my Resolutions of Jan 1st 2012, which was, Don't Buy Chocolate. (Not, note, don't eat chocolate.) I actually didn't. So I'm keeping that going this year.

2. Another resolution was to podfic more. I have done… well, a couple more podfics than I'd done before, although there are two on my desktop that aren't finished. And I don't really know what to do with them when they are ready for public consumption. Where does one put a podfic?

Still, I would like to do more. I like listening to stories, it's only fair that I record a few more, too.

3. Post more. I'll probably be grumbling about theatre stuff, but that's fair.

How did you keep the chocolate resolution, if you don't mind my asking?

It was hard, but I think I kept it because I left myself an option that allowed me to eat chocolate. If someone else bought it, I was allowed to eat it. Because the idea of a permanently chocolate-free life was too dismal to contemplate! And as time went on, the time that had mounted up since I last bought myself some chocolate had mounted up to the extent that I didn't want to break my streak, so that helped.

Podfic! There is the community amplificathon (both on lj and dw) which is the main podfic posting community, multifandom. There are fandom specific ones too, but that's the hub of it all really.

Also, podfics posted there get archived at the audio archive. :)

I found that comm, and was delighted! But I tried to submit a couple of podfics there, and got nowhere at all. Didn't even get a reply to my emails.

Also here via turpss. Most of the podfic community is based on Twitter. If that's something you'd be interested in, bessyboo did a Twitter Following Meme. You can get to know all of the people in the podfic community and share your struggles/triumphs.

Augh, Twitter! I think I'm too old for Twitter, I can't deal with it at all. At least, I follow a couple of my fannish idols by checking their page of tweets once in a while - is there a way to do that with the podfic community?

Are you familiar with the community amplificathon? It's the main place where people post all podfics. There are also fandom specific podfic comms as well, if you want to look into them.

Hi I'm one of turps 's podficcer friends! The places I see podfic uploaded to most of the time are mediafire and parakaproductions. I upload to my own little corner of parakaproductions because I love being able to stream things! *g*

Once a podfic has been posted to amplificathon of course an archivist will also ul it to the audiofic archive so you and fandom will have a backup in case mediafire decides your file is ~suspicious or your storage expires (also because people like to browse the audiofic archive for fic, of course).

You also see uls to other medialocker-syle websites like dropbox and box.net, which also allow streaming.

If you want your own account at parakaproductions (free for the asking! from a very friendly lady!) that is a thing that could happen.

Now if what you're wondering is where to POST your podfic, the places to go are amplificathon (on the DW and/or LJ sides), your own journal, Archive of Our Own... wherever you like and your fandom lives!

There are many helpful tutorials and people-who-have-asked-your-questions-for-you at podfic-tips.livejournal.com - when I was thinking about starting podficcing I pretty much read that comm all the way through! *g* podficmeta is also A++ useful. And pod_aware .

Mediafire and parakaproductions—that sounds like what I need. Thank you! I'll also explore amplificathon as a place to post about them; I know it can be done on AO3 as I participated in the recent Pod_together challenge. I've also got a few of my own recordings on my website.
