The door to my lounge is mostly glass, and through it I get an interesting, distorted view of white/beige, with highlights of orange and black.

I was inspired, last month.





It's entrelac.

that's really beautiful - I love the shaded neutrals, with just a bit o surprise!colour; how did you make it? my first impression is that it's knitted strips that are then woven, but I'm not an expert, so could be waaaaay offbase.

It's a technique called 'entrelac', and it's actually knitted from the wide part to the tip of the triangle, but you knit each little segment (in one direction) as you go, then move on to the next. At the end of the row, you turn and come back the other way.

I like entrelac. It looks terribly clever, and actually, it's quite easy.

I haven't tried entrelac yet, planning on two colour knitting for my next trick with a Scandanavian pattern, but I really like what you've done here. It uses the technique to its full advantage as you follow the colours through like ribbons.

It's one of the advantages of not doing the entrelac with a single yarn, enhancing that 'weaving' effect. Knitting is fun!

The meteor videos are incredibly fascinating. I mean, it's horrible that people got hurt, but I just can't get over how cool it looks!

Thank you! And yes - especially that first video, with the *perfectly* placed dashboard camera and the perfectly timed traffic light. It almost looks like a special effect, it's so perfect.

Pen, that's fantastic! I've seen entrelac scarves before, but never a piece that big.

I imagine it was difficult?

That's the fun of doing entrelac—it looks incredibly complicated. But in fact, once you've got started, it's really easy, just lots of teeny tiny eight-stitches-in-a-row segments. Good for TV watching, as if you go wrong, you only have to rip back a tiny little section.

I've done a couple of scarves, and I'd say the big triangle is easier, since you don't have to fiddle around with triangles at the sides. Also, by the time you're half-way through a row, you are well into the rhythm.
