My Bun came to visit at the weekend. Boy declined, apparently on the grounds that he doesn't like long car journeys. Hah. But Bun brought excellent birthday presents with her - a lovely flower basket plus a basket of edibles (cheese, macaroons) and interesting teas. I shall perhaps bring the teas to Camp for you to try. How nice it is to have produced a Grown-Up Person!

I had a real treat in the middle of the night (or, at half past four this morning) — after too long being unable to go to sleep I thought I would get up and read, but when I tried to turn over my back *screamed* at me, and I had to wake Beast up to beg for ibuprofen. Most unpleasant. It's all right now, at least, there is a niggling pain but I can move around perfectly well. And my right leg is resonating with the back pain.

I do not wish to participate in this 'getting old' lark. I wish to remain a fortysomething. Why is this not happening?

That's an excellent gift. But ouch at your back.

Thank you! Most irritatingly, I went to the doctor a few days ago, at which point my back had stopped its three-week-long niggling. But she took a look, and it does seem that the pain is muscular rather than Something Nasty Going On.

Ouch! I hope it was a one-time occurrence and that your back will behave itself in the future.

I seem to have back muscle spasms every so often. Not usually quite so dramatic!
