I have no involvement with coding, but the Beginning Dev checklist on the wiki seems like a place to start?

The Dev team uses mostly Perl, if that helps.

I'm not on the dev team, but I can get in touch with them, if you need?

I'm on the email list for dreamwidth that lists all their coding updates and such when they happen. It just so happens that the most recent one (dated 6-11-13) has a variety of contact info at the bottom for people who want to join the various Dreamwidth teams.
