I have been harbouring the ambition to knit a peacock shawl (more truthfully, to have knitted a peacock shawl) for some time, and this year actually began to knit. It's the Renaissance Shawl by Anne-Lisa Maigaard, and although it is not actually labelled as a peacock, it definitely features peacock feathers. I've got as far as Chart D at the moment. Rows go reasonably quickly as there are only (!) 250 or so stitches per row at the moment. Lots and lots of safety lines, but I am finding that it adds up well—there is a feeling of suspense as I approach the end of the row, which resolves very happily into the right number of stitches, yay!

It's a big pattern. I wonder if I'll finish it this year?

It's a rich bright blue with occasional smidgins of purple. Not actually peacock colours, but it feels like peacock colours.

That is an excellent description of knitting lace!

Yes indeed! This one is particularly interesting because there isn't a consistent line for everything—the last pattern I did had things in groups of four interspersed by threes, so it all line up. This... doesn't line up. Yet.

My sympathies. I know how projects like that are. But the result is absolutely worth it!

It seems to have been a Knit Along mystery shawl, so there are lots of posts about the problems people had—and I have found the answer to my problem now. A bit of ambiguity in the charting is resolved, so things should add up next time.

It does! Although other shawls are actually described as peacock shawls. I can see it is going to be slow going, a couple of rows a day...
