It is very difficult to remember that it's February/March, when I am sitting here in shorts and T-shirt and drinking iced tea. Were I at home I'd be drinking hot coffee and well snuggled in knitwear.

We had such a busy week in Sydney, it was excellent and most fun—yet the most stunning thing, the best memory, was getting a hire car and going off to the Blue Mountains for a day. We stopped in the town of Wentworth Falls and embarked on the Charles Darwin Walk, which took us alongside a very pretty creek, through trees and ferns with an accompaniment of gurgling water. Every so often there was a little tumble of water over rocks and we took a picture. The end of the trail was The Falls, and we got after about ninety minutes to an actual waterfall, somewhat more than 6' high, and took suitable pictures. Then, it turned out there was another Falls somewhere, so we progressed a little further, down a few steps and — the MOST STUNNING VIEW. The ground basically fell away 100m straight down, and the hills opposite were dark green trees and pink shelves of rock, and the waterfal—THE Waterfall—was beautiful.

I'll probably post pictures when I get home.

Anyway, here we are in Tasmania, and the frantic pace of packing-everything-in has slowed to a crawl. We did drag FIL off to 'Tasmazia' yesterday, a collection of mazes plus a (not very good) model village and suchlike. Quite fun, and I discovered the joy of driving in Australia (which is, basically, that the roads are wonderfully empty—except for the small, furry corpses bestrewing the roads). Bun was right about her Grandpa's car, though. She has been taught what to appreciate!

I didn't finish my February Fic festival, but I shall save the remaining recs for another occasion, since it is now 4th March.
