A count-up

Was just looking at [livejournal.com profile] turps33's recent entry, and, since there are many worthy and useful things I ought to be doing around the house, I decided to survey my own output.

(Procrastinate now!)

Turns out I have produced more than 30,000 words of popslash since April, almost half of them in one story, the rest shared between eighteen short fics, some of them very short indeed. And like [livejournal.com profile] turps33 I find that the majority are written for some kind of challenge, whether the Reunion Challenge, or [livejournal.com profile] sky_pie or [livejournal.com profile] fic_requests. I suppose that's using a broad definition of the term challenge, but whatever. Since most of those are ficlets it wouldn't have occurred to me to write *without* a challenge or request of some kind, I'm grateful!

Doesn't add up to the tally of my Trekfics, which totalled nearly 60,000 words in 12 stories and two poems. And it turns out, to my surprise, that my longest-ever story was a Trek story, at upwards of 15,000 words. (Not for me the mighty epics of [livejournal.com profile] nopseud and [livejournal.com profile] mickeym.) There are also some 14,000 words of sundries, including my sole HP story.

Not that any of that is of the slightest interest to anyone but me, but it wasted some time.

I was interested. I'm also glad I'm not the only challenge addict around. Challenges kick start my brain it seems and really if that's what it takes that's fine by me.

Did you find the mouse yet btw?
