That was a most satisfactory convention!

Beast and I spent the last three-and-a-bit days at Nine Worlds, and it was great fun. I braved the terrors of the social icebreaker on the first evening, and ended up playing Dixit and other games with people I hadn't met before. Then, I moderated a panel (on 'what's my medium' and 'what's my canon') which turned into a great discussion, and I was a somewhat intimidated panellist on the 'Slash and Feminism' panel which was very cool and again, great discussion. (My fellow panellists were *excellent*.)

I talked to lots of people, I went to a bunch of interesting sessions—perhaps the most notable were the Time Travelling one from the Greenwich Observatory people, and the one about Policing the Net, very intelligently and wittily presented. I have enormous admiration for the steampunk couple who presented a cookery session with all kinds of information on why to do things as well as how—live cookery demo, scary!

The activity tracks were imaginative and interesting. The people were fun. There were *so* *many* cosplayers and otherwise splendidly dressed people, it made for an amazing atmosphere. (I wore my fabulous black and gold fishtail skirt and felt fabulous in it, and I face-painted my daughter again—she got 25 kudos for it, which is the best score so far!) There were, I think, a few cancelled items, but overall the tracks ran as planned and everything seemed pretty smooth.

Really, if you're any kind of geek in the UK, next year's Nine Worlds is going to be The Place To Be.

It was very enjoyable indeed. Oh - one of the panellists was Swedish, and she sounded exactly like you, in terms of intonation, phrasing and emphasis. Not that that is surprisibng in any way, but I guess I just associate your voice with *you*, and to hear someone else speaking in exactly the same way while not being you was very odd!

I've sometimes wondered how Swedish I sound but since I almost never hear other Swedes speaking English it's hard for me to judge. I can well imagine it must have felt a bit strange. Like if I met someone who spoke in the same dialect as Terri - I'm sure I would have reacted much in the same way.
