An unexpected crossover pic. Okay, then.

We have painted another bedroom (well, most of it) and after three coats (sigh) it is probably okay. Dammit, I want a new nest! We nipped up to Norwich for an afternoon last week to inspect three properties: a surprisingly pretty thatched cottage with glorious views from its impractical hilltop location (too small, and the plot was all near-vertical woodland), a house more or less exactly like ours, except with a *huge* upward-sweeping garden (too boring), and a magnificently extended house with a garden room - windows on three sides - a bunch of bedrooms, an annexe/granny flat incorporated, and a really beautiful garden (too expensive, dammit). I was dismayed to discover that the owner of this last house had exactly the kind of broadband we want... as we can in no way afford the house, we were hoping for this to be a fundamental flaw. Gah.

So, still nothing for us. There seems to be an odd price gap between Way Too Much and Affordable But Not Good Enough, and right in the gap is what we are hoping to pay. Hah. RightMove sent me notice of a Plot For Sale in one of the most desirable roads in the area, but eh.

Personally, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my premium bonds come up trumps with a million pounds... Eh, I can dream!

Hah, it's weird being in a Why Won't Anybody Take My Money situation. How can there be no market when one wishes to hand out money? Good luck though!

It has to be frustrating not finding the perfect place. But, I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

We found that gap existed, too. Loads of properties that ticked our actual boxes cost 200K more or more because they were one or two roads over towards the good schools. The ones we could afford we cramped and ugly, with no potential.

We gave up and took the place off the market, only to find exactly what we wanted a year later, while searching Rightmove for a friend.

It's irritating! We don't have a deadline (although if we did, we'd have offered for the house at the right price point but on a busy road), so we can wait... but it's unsettling. Ah, well. The right house for us must be there somewhere.
