Changing appearance

Oh, so close! Dammit. I've been fiddling with the look of my journal, and can't figure out how to add in a pic at the top. I found the instructions to set a background pic, and to move the contents down the page, and I merged them and everything (pause to pat self on head), but ended up, of course, with my desired header graphic showing up all over the page. I can't seem to find the instructions - which must be there, somewhere. Anybody help?

You can do what my friend zazuomgwtf did, which is to put the graphic into a massively post-dated entry. It looks pretty good. I've seen a lot of people do this.

Okay - yes, that's effective. I feel sure there must be an 'elegant' solution - I want a practise LJ page to try things out on! - but this would definitely do if I can't find one. Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried copying the code that I have in my layer, but I'm a dork - it's not working. So, I would recommend idiots_and_lj It's an insulting name, but a very helpful site. Good luck! It's frustrating, but, once you get your pretty up there, it'll all be worth it :-)

Hey...I've got the same problem! have you found out yet how to put a picture at the top of the page?? Hope you can help me! I've tried the idiots_and_lj already but can't find it there...
