Other people have Problems with RPF, which I don't propose to talk about (unless you really, really want to, which I feel is unlikely). From my point of view, The biggest problem with RPF is the fact that they can let you down. My almost-hatched Oscar Pistorius fannishness is the most horrifying example (for me), because you cannot write fanfic about someone who kills another human being; but I have to admit that the more I know about Instant Classic, the less interested I am in knowing more… okay, it's not much of a fannish obsession, and probably just as well, but still. Eh.

But Lance Bass, Lance of my heart, you do not let me down. Lance and his husband apparently harmonise in the shower. This makes me unreasonably happy, in the teeth of the continuing quest to find FIL a place to live*. Lance and Michael make up random songs and harmonise with one another.

* The people who were going to sell him their house and all its contents, then weren't, then were, now definitely aren't. This is not terribly surprising, but it's a pain.

Bummer on the FiL housing situation.

I do not follow Lance Bass, but I love the idea of he and his husband harmonizing in the shower. *g*

I'm not altogether clear whether he expressly admitted to harmonising *in* the shower or whether that was, ahem, a gloss put on the conversation by the interviewer. Not that I mind much!

Yup. I can work around anything writers throw at me for fictional characters, but when it's a real person? I just back away from my keyboard reeal slow and pretend I was never there.

With fiction, you can just assert that the writers got it wrong - with real life, they can just let you down. (Did you have a RL reason for stopping with the Kradam, or had that fannishness just run its course?)

It ran its course for me, that was the main reason. But there was also the lack of interaction between the guys to keep canon alive, and with Kris being all happily married (that jerk! :)) it would've been hard to keep things going for long anyway.

Very true. I've been writing more and more AUs for my preferred pairing (not that there was *any* canon for that when I started writing it!).

Lance is really a remarkable person. It's wonderful to see him so happy.

It is! And he's doing all kinds of good things, too - making pleas to voters, planting gardens with schools, working on tolerance documentaries... I am so pleased with him!

I loved that xkcd graphic, and not just because of the climate change data. When we learn about history, language development, extinctions and sea levels rising rarely get talked about at the same time, so I found it super fascinating to see how those things line up!
