Exhausting learning-to-be-a-mentor session this afternoon, as we were working on being Good Listeners and not advice givers. It's amazingly hard not to tell people what to do... Lots of role playing and interesting questions.

Yesterday's session was easier in many ways, but irritating in some, as it was the education on How To Eat which the mentees will be given and which we therefore need to know about, and it didn't really match what we, most of us, have experienced or learned elsewhere. Ho well.

More seas of mud. The foundations turn out to be shallower even than expected, and the house is currently being held up on 'stools'. It is all a bit weird.

omg, I have no doubt being an active listener is hard! We all want to help too much.

We're all there because we want to help... and yes, we *all* found that restraining ourselves from offering advice was very hard. One of the chaps had been a manager, and part of his job was to get people out of their funk and motivate them, so this is the opposite of that, almost!
