Thank you [personal profile] frausorge for the Christmas card - amazingly not quite the first to arrive, but the first from fandom.

The holes under the house have now been filled in with steel and concrete. However, there are fresh holes, this time in the side of the house (other side) as two of the windows in the dining room have been taken out (and squirrelled by FIL), and holes have been made in the walls, through which steel beams now protrude. There's a low bricked outline of the new dining room, currently covered with a long cloth of some kind as frost protection.

My liveable domain continues to shrink somewhat, as FIL now has the DVD player attached to his gigantic new telly (a free gift!) in the 'breakfast room' area of the current kitchen, and my TV watching in the actual lounge is down to my trashy wedding dress shows on the Virgin box. Which is unfortunate, as I really ought to re-watch the Backstreet documentary for Good, Seasonal Reasons. Ahem. And I don't think angsty boybands are FIL's thing.

On the positive side, we have picked out kitchen cupboard doors and worktops and taps and such. \o/

There doesn't seem to be much in my life besides looming Christmas and building work. No wonder my hair seems to be thinner!

Good luck retaining some livable domain!

And I hope you love the renovations when you are all done.

It sounds like you're bang in the middle of the worst bit of building at home- where it's not new enough to be exciting, but it's not done enough to be able to see the end. Hang in there, it sounds like it's going to be splendid when it's done... Is FIL able to be out without you for a couple of hours at all?

*shivers* - this is a hilly time of year to have holes in your house, however constructive they are.

Onwards, ever onwards!

He's missing out!

Kitchen cupboard doors etc. That has to be a good feeling and step forward.
