As I am no social butterfly with expectations of a fabulous New Year's Eve party, I am vegetating and trawling through DW for memes. Here's an icon thing.
miss_s_b asked about these:

This was my feet in my lovely Docs, I just couldn't resist a pic of them waving against a bright blue sky, and it's quite a handy icon to express mindless happiness! Sadly, I found that the Docs and my feet just weren't long-term compatible and have passed the boots along to
chalcopyrite, and hope she will enjoy much happy tromping about in them.

LOL Dinosaurs, made by the very talented and generous
lookslikerain. It doesn't have any particular significance, but it is surprising how often one needs a LOL Dinosaurs icon. Everybody should have one.

Severalplums: I ran an icon challenge community called Severalplums for a while on LJ and DW, and it did produce quite a variety of icons which found their way into my stash. This is one of the two I made to use on community posts, just to make sure people noticed them. *sigh* I quite miss the weekly (was it weekly? I can't even remember) icon challenges, but somehow, it's more inspiring to make a weekly icon of the same fan-loved face than to get a different image every time.
And
dine asked about these:

The Christmas Box I think I picked up from a set somewhere; it's all the right colours for Christmas, and it's handy to have a nice, versatile Christmas icon. Not much more to it than that.

Ah, the Howie icon! I remember going to one of the Backstreet concerts, possibly the This Is Us tour, when Howie was *scorchingly* hot. It was quite disconcerting. Then on a subsequent tour he wore a waistcoat and ceased to be hot at all. Ah well. The pic for this icon is of course from the BSB video for I Just Want You To Know, which I love very much (even wrote a story from it), and this is Glam Rock Howie, or possibly Hair Band Howie, I never know what these things are called. But he looks amazing with the ***HAIR*** and the outfit and all. I just added a nice little light texture, and am very happy with the icon.

I Am Hamster, Hear Me Roar was also picked up from someone's icon offerings—I just loved it! It is quite surprising how often it is appropriate.
If you'd like me to pick three of your icons, comment with "Go for it" and I will.

Date: 2017-12-31 05:40 am (UTC)Now you've got me thinking about the difference between Glam Rock and Hair Bands. I guess Glam Rock is more seventies and Hair Bands are a little more eighties? But either way, big hair suits Howie. A little TOO well.

Date: 2018-01-05 05:08 am (UTC)Hair bands (arena rock??) also kind of give off a vibe of being -- despite all the spandex -- just way, way more rigidly heterosexual and, like, less playful in general than their glam forebearers. (Disappointingly.) Is that a fair assessment?
