Day 1
In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I like to participate in the Snowflake Challenge, and I've tried to do so in the past—although due to my erratic tagging behaviour, I can't really tell how assiduous I've been. It's a chance to reconnect with my fannishness. Not really with my fandom, because the fandom of my heart is still popslash, and although it has a splendid resurgence every December with the Make The Yuletide Gay fic exchange challenge, it's otherwise pretty much gone. But with my fannishness, because I love fandom in general, and even without the joy of my own wonderful fandom, it's good to stay in touch with what other fans are doing.
I'm not sure what I hope to accomplish this year. Writing a bit more in this journal is one thing, and the Snowflake Challenge is always good for that as it provides the necessary prompt. That's one of the things fandom is really good at—providing writing prompts. And as I know very well, it's easier to write today when I wrote yesterday, and easier to write tomorrow when I write today.
