Sources of joy

I bought a picture on Tuesday. I was out early before my knit and natter evening to do a bit of necessary shopping, and wandered into the Galerie Rouge just to see what was around. I'll be needing some art, I thought, one of these years when I move my computer out of the lounge into its ultimate destination of my craft room. And there were some fun canvases on the wall with interesting splurgy, textured, resinous backgrounds with 3-D butterflies. The butterflies were a bit twee for me, but I got chatting to the salesperson, and she mentioned that they had a nice Kerry Darlington picture downstairs, so I went downstairs… and fell in love.
I texted a PLEASE to my Beast, who said yes of course, because he is a kind an understanding Beast, and I bought it, and spent the rest of the afternoon grinning to myself. It was delivered yesterday.
It's... quite big. It's abstract, in my inevitable reds and browns. It's actually a print, so not as expensive as the originals (just as well), but it will fit right in with the ones I have. We haven't hung it yet because it'll take a bit of doing and two sturdy hooks. Because it's big.
Also, yay!

I spent quite a lot of yesterday evening with both cats on the blanket over my legs. Sable was within reach, so I stroked her and she seemed okay with it. Eventually, of course, she got up and began to provoke Fluffy into chasing and fighting her. They are bombing around the house now like tiny elephants stampeding.
*
We have tried to persuade Fluffy to use the newly-installed cat flap, but she is very wary, as it makes a noise when she is close enough to trigger it, and she hasn't got past that yet. She did obtain quite a lot of treats in the process, so perhaps her reluctance is strategic.

Dave The Bees has reported that our hive is healthy and making babies, and he has given them a slab of fondant to nom until the weather warms up and the blossom emerges in force. There are a couple of trees with pretty white blossoms already, and a sprinkling of daffs, crocuses and giant snowdrops, but the fruit trees aren't ready to reproduce just yet.

Good luck with the cat flap training!
That's so good to hear about your bees.

Yay, bees!
