Aug. 5th, 2018 07:25 pmBeast and I went for a Walk yesterday—fortunately it was not *too* hot, although certainly sunny and warm—from Holkham to Wells-next-the-Sea and back. It was originally intended as a social event for my chorus, but in the event only the walk leader, one other member, and I, represented the chorus.
Holkham beach is amazing! If you've seen "Shakespeare in Love", apparently it is the beach used in the final scene, which I had always assumed was somewhere far more exotic than Norfolk. So pretty, in the sunlight. We did spend quite a lot of the walk in the nearby woods, enjoying the welcome shade of many interestingly shaped trees. We had *excellent* fish and chips in Wells, and discovered that we were there on carnival day, so there was a parade of floats on the theme of children's literature, very cute indeed.
Today, Beast and FIL have gone for a wherry trip. They are not yet back, but I should be hearing soon that they are returning. I have had a nice, lazy time. I have made modest progress on the peacock shawl, and am about to implement the first colour change. I have discovered a flaw in the ludicrously oversized chart, probably the first of several, if the Project notes on Ravelry are to be believed, but I think I have figured out the style of the lace after 58 rows, so it should be possible to put things right as I write out the repeats for myself.
Ah, Lance just interrupted me in Russian* to let me know that the menfolk won't be back for at least another hour. I think I'll have me tea.
