Our Ruby Year Celebration Barn Dance is over, and it went very well. It was on Saturday, where the local temperature reached 28C, eek, but the hall turned out to be respectably cool, and we put some tables outside which were well used. The caterers, while more expensive than we'd intended, produced delicious food and were lovely besides, and while the band were a bit dilatory about setting up and getting going—so that by the time they were ready for the dancing to begin everyone was eating—they did a fine job once things got going. The table was laden with a variety of desserts brought in by members, including a spectacular two-tier cake with our logo. There wasn't very much of anything left by the time we'd finished tidying!

fancake is reccing Alternative Professions this month. There must be loads of popslash stories in which our boys are not pop stars but… well, what? Remind me of some! Sign on to fancake and rec a few!

I've gone with a different journal theme for a change. It'll take me a few days to figure out whether I want to keep it, but it's ok so far.

I should very much like to remember how to go to sleep at night.

It's 28 here as well. We tend to in July and August, but I hate it so much. :/

The Barn Dance sounds fantastic.

That is a good reccing theme. For some reason my mind went straight to the JuC surfing AU, and I'm not sure why as it was never my favourite pairing. But you're right, there will be loads out there.

We're down to 22C today, which works for me, but apparently it'll be back up to 26 later this week. This house is rather a cool house, but the bedroom gets warm at night, grrrrr. I'm not a heat-lover.

I certainly did! There wasn't quite enough room to rampage during the 'gallop' parts, but it was pretty lively nonetheless.

My problem is, in part, that for a long time my favourite stories were all canon-based. In recent years there have been a lot of AUs, so perhaps I should go back through the MTYG stories and see what appeals.

We're supposed to be around 32 or so Friday. EWW I hate heat and we have air conditioning everywhere (I think I've heard we get this more than you do?), thankfully.

Good to hear the barn dance went well! But yes, 28C is scarily hot! I hope your weather has cooled off a bit just like ours have.

32, yikes! You have more air conditioning than we do over here, though with the continental climate (and being overall more southerly) you probably need it more.

Rehearsal this evening was very warm - we meet in a school, and it is always *so* warm. Woe.
