Hmm. Well.

1. There's that 75,000 words thing I signed up to write.
- 1(a) Finish the Chronicles
- 1(b) Complete the Fanfic 100 which is at about 97 already. The Chronicles stories will help! It may mean writing the Wallow, but, well. I have been meaning to write The Wallow since about 2006.

3. Create a series of 'stained glass windows' (which will not actually be made of glass) to be used, ideally, around my dining room for a Yuletide party next winter.

Americans - I don't quite have the words, but I feel for you, most sincerely. Have spent the last 24 hours or so being *horrified* (or asleep). Good luck.

Justice, law and order, electoral systems, these are all constructs which depend on our belief. When someone, like Trump, refuses to believe in them and refuses to follow the acknowledged rules, they will be weak until the rules and the beliefs are asserted very strongly once again. I really hope you and your representatives will be able to do that.

ooooh, what will the stained glass windows be made from? I've made some from construction paper framing tissue paper, years ago.

I have some (not enough yet) large bits of cardboard which I will spray black (eventually) and use as the framework. Then, a combination of coloured tissue paper and glass-painted plastic (for the small pieces). I'm thinking twelve days of Christmas...

thanks - obviously, you guys are dealing with your own big political mess with long-term consequences, but at least yours hasn't involved violent storming of the seat of government?

It would certainly be un-British to storm the House of Commons. But that disgraceful shambles in Washington was *so* far wrong. Back in September 2001, I had a strong impulse to go out and hug any and every American I could find. This time round, I just wanna hug *some* of you.

I've been fairly horrified at how long it took Westminster people to condemn what Trump was doing, I know they've been following quite a lot of his playbook and openly admiring his tactics, and it's worrying that they're not really paying much lipservice to walking that back.

Yes, it's absolutely shameful. Right wing thuggishness has been allowed to run rampant for far too long, here as well as there. There are definitely times when I understand the impulse to inappropriate action, though not to violence.

I used to cover the big lounge window and the bedroom window above *and* the landing window with 'stained glass', a really cheap and effective way to decorate the house, as all I needed to do was turn on the lights. Which would probably have been on anyway. This house has only one, small, window facing the street, so I have not bothered - but for a party, it would be pleasing!
