The visitors to the fat balls (and half coconut, and worm feeder) now include, as well as the original robins, bluetits and sparrows, some great tits, I *think* a coal tit, and I'm almost sure there were two pied wagtails, but they have not been around of late. Also a magpie, looking *huge* by comparison to the dainty little fellows. And one to three impertinent squirrels, which I roar at through the dining room window. And a rat.

I continue to wonder *how* they were put into their knitwear!

fasteners on the back? even then getting the wings through the arm holes could be a challenge - I'm guessing the hens are either very docile, or were heavily drugged for the process *g*

Yeah... I think there must be lots of fastenings hidden away somewhere! On reflection, though, someone who knits little sleeveless sweaters for her hens is probably eccentric in her everyday relationship with said hens, so I dare say they are used to it.

I've only ever seen a rat in the garden once, and it was climbing up the bird feeder station to get to the fat balls. Thankfully it never came back. Horrible things that they are.

I thought it was a squirrel, at first, which had got lost on the way up the bush and climbed into a bit that didn't actually get to the food. Then I saw it's tail. *shudders*

I'm ashamed to say I was speechless with horror at the sight of the rat! My Beast poked it with a very long stick and it fell out of the bush and ran away.
