Our little cat strenuously dislikes being picked up—or held down—and having her flea treatment on the back of her neck. I got the worming pill into her without difficulty by dint of embedding it in a piece of chicken (nearly lost a finger, actually), but the flea treatment has yet to be applied. Sable has an infallible instinct for these things, so she and Beast have had three contests so far, and the cat has won all of them. Beast is sporting half a dozen scratches to the hand....

Our MD comes up with some odd images at times. Last week we had to imagine we were T rex, undulating our magnificent tails from side to side. *thinks* Is it undulating when it is sideways? Or is undulating just up and down? Well, no matter.

This week, we were T rex from the waist down, but giraffes at the top, not giraffes who wished to eat leaves but giraffes who wished to let the leaves stroke their ears and their horny things. There was a lot of restraint, I tell you, when MD asked us what the horny things were called. (They are, it turns out, ossicones.)

I give you—the Tyraffe.

Bless, my cats also dislike the flea spot on and I absolutely need to sneak up on them with thumb over the tube so they can't smell it. And if one sees the other being submitted to this torture there is no chance of doing them both the same day 🤣🤣

It's amazingly difficult to annoint Sable because her fur is ridiculously thick! But she does hate it so. :-(

I picked the cat up today as she was asking for her supper, to our mutual surprise. It was rather nice, having a little cuddle, and she even put up with having Beast put the stuff on her neck, probably because she was trying to figure out why we had swapped roles!

I have not had to do that yet, though we have the stuff. I also have not tried a towel, but I hear it works wonders. Though it would take two people to get the job done, I presume - one to hold and one to squirt.

And if the cat is firmly wrapped in a towel, there probably isn't access to the right place to put the Stuff. It would be a lot easier, in our cat's case, to give her a flea pill, but I'm not sure there is one.

Have you tried ambushing her when she's napping? That's what I usually have to resort to when it comes to Lancecat. He also REALLY dislike getting wet, icky stuff dabbed on his neck.

I picked her up earlier today, as she was waiting for her supper. I think she was too surprised to struggle! So the job has been done.

We had fun being T Rexes the previous week, we were all pouching up our hands... not useful for singing but it kept us amused.

I have betrayed Sable, but as she still requires food, I'll probably be okay.

I think the Tyraffe looks as much as anything like a very confused bird. And oddly lacking in limbs!

The tyraffe is truly a magnificent beast. One can almost imagine it feeding in the treetops, leaping from branch to branch.

I know there's a flea and tick treatment pill for dogs. I'm trying to remember if at some point I got one for the cats as well, but I'm honestly unsure. Might be worth asking next time, though!

I will definitely enquire about a pill treatment for cats! Sable hates the cold liquid on her neck so much, and seems to have predictive powers when it comes to flea-stuff time. She's really hard to catch!
