Two of the courgette plants have survived long enough to produce something, so we ate six tiny yellow courgettes with our lunch. This meal was part-prepared by the now-resident Boy, who (following my instructions) enwrapped sturdy chicken thighs in prosciutto, and seemed pleased with the result.

I came upon this collection of pics for the 'Target Challenge', which of course I had no idea was a thing, nor did I realise that Target is apparently assuming the citizens of America have been forced back to homesteading and scratching a living from the land, but it definitely amused me.

I'm intrigued by your fauna - squirrels around here don't seem to quack. possibly they're defective?

It's very odd, the way the squirrels quack. I was out in the front garden actually watching one - presumably it was alarmed because I was there?

I hadn't heard of the Target dress challenge, that is delightful. Unfortunately I really like the leopard-print dress to the left of The Target Dress in that first photo 😂

It's one of several Jamie Oliver recipes that I've picked up lately, and it's very good!

I suspect those dresses are quite comfortable, too.

I've just had another courgette bake, no one can say I'm not getting my fill of veggies lately.

Well, the courgettes were the smallest part of it, but it was a good meal. I'm currently trying not to be impatient with the sweetcorn and crop it too soon - we have had a few cobs already, but they weren't fully developed.

I've told him he has to do lunch for us on Saturdays, but that unfortunately means I have to think up something for him to cook. When he's on his own he'll be doing Hello Fresh or something like, so he won't have to think about it!

I really like yellow courgettes, grew them several years ago and they just had such a nice, firm texture. The courgettes have been so disappointing this year, but I didn't want to leave those tiny few to be eaten by slugs!

The squirrel noise is Really Weird.
