pensnest: Drawing of Worf looking cross (Trek Klingon Gah!)

Spent much of the day clearing up after Coffee Morning, eg returning loaned chairs and gazebos to the allotment (there was some serious luggage tetris last night!), putting our own chairs back in the sheds, packing up tablecloths, craft stuff, etc.

Also, went to various addresses where there are houses for sale, showing the Boy what they are like. There are a lot of rather attractive places in the city centre, neatly situated on the flood plain... Hmm.

Had lunch at the vegan restaurant again, and again it was very good.

After lunch, looked at somewhat further addresses and decided that the city centre is a better bet.

Discovered that the cat thinks she likes chocolate cake, which is just silly. She knows she likes chorizo, which is interesting but at least makes sense.

Spent a very frustrating evening trying to ensure my website is updated with the handful of stories I wrote for FandomGiftBox. Eventual conclusion is that the site *is* updated, but what we are able to see is in fact the not-updated site. This is REALLY FRUSTRATING.

If you go to pensnest.co.uk can you click on the Fanfic link and tell me if the story 'Pepsi and Chateauneuf du Pape' is listed there?

Nope, I can't see it. The Fanfic link has the link to ST: TNG at the top, and then a list of other fandoms/stories , concluding with "A recent arrival: Glambert (updated 31st December 2020)." The main page of the site also says it was updated 31 December 2020.

I hope your son finds a place he really likes! And perhaps with good flood insurance, if that's a thing in your area.

Like what others have reported, I'm not seeing your latest story on your site yet either. :(

Flood plain? Hmm.

Find out what the insurance rates are like and factor any price comparison into mortgage comparisons.

Climate change will make severe floods increasingly likely.

There are no climate deniers among insurance risk assessors.

Trivia thing: there is a UK govt backed scheme that is supposed to tackle the issue that large swathes of the housing stock was going to become uninsurable because of flood risk. It helps insurers hive off part of the risk, for which they pay an industrywide levy.

Does not stop them putting up the premiums, but it evens things out a bit

The catch with that kind of scheme is that it encourages developers to build on more flood plains. Shudder.

It only covers buildings built before 2009 where the owner or freeholder lives there and it's a residential rather than commercial insurance policy. Although you can knock a building down and rebuild it.
It doesn't cover commercial buildings, including houses that have been cut up into 4 or more flats. So no rebuilding a single building into a block of flats.

Apparently, the endless building work at the end of the road is to create bedsits with a shared kitchen. 6 of them where one family lived! But presumably, not able to get Flood Re cover now

It seems you have a cat with wide-ranging tastes.

Good luck with the house finding, and getting your site sorted. That latter issues sound very frustrating.

Ahaha, houses built on flood plains maybe not so good... I see others have already recommended good flood insurance.

*g*

Good luck with your website!

A cat liking chocolate cake is indeed very silly! And possibly not very good for her either. I know chocolate is quite bad for dogs but I've no idea about cats. It's usually not the sort of thing cats like :-)

I see from comments that you've got your website sorted now, yay! It's so frustrating when your website doesn't work and you can't figure out why.
