pensnest: Wash says Can I make a suggestion that doesn't involve violence? (Wash without violence)

There is much rejoicing chez Pen tonight, for we have just collected Boy's PS5 from Curry's. He is eagerly setting it up as I type.

Because I spotted it somewhere, a meme:

1. When did you last stay in a hotel, and where?
I honestly cannot remember.

2. Have you ever had any teeth pulled?
Yes. One teeny tiny wisdom tooth, in a completely painless procedure that quite surprised me. The dentist was positively scornful about my diminutive tooth.

3. What is one of your favorite comedy movies?
Hmmm. If we can classify 'Strictly Ballroom' and 'The Princess Bride' and 'Four weddings and a funeral' as comedy movies, probably one of those.

4. Do you have a crush on anyone that you haven’t really talked to before?
Nah.

5. What is your least favorite sour patch kids color?
I have no idea.

6. Have you ever won a competition? If so, what was it and what did you win?
I don't think so? Nothing that I can remember.

7. Did you ever take classes for a musical instrument when you were younger?
I took piano lessons at school, but only had a real teacher for one term. The others just wanted to get me through the exams - for that one term, I was learning to play the piano. Passed the Grade V exam but was never actually a piano player at that level—I just knew the three pieces. Sigh.
Also took clarinet lessons as an adult, I think in my thirties (briefly also in my early twenties, but I couldn't really afford it then). I did very well, and passed my Grade V fairly quickly, but I think cut back a lot on the practicing when I directed a summer show, and never totally got back into it. Also, I didn't want to take the theory exam which I needed in order to progress further through the grade exams.
I had singing lessons at various times, and passed (guess!) the Grade V voice exam too.

8. How often do you walk around barefoot?
At the moment, hardly at all (unless doing yoga), as the October chill has set in. In the summer... a fair bit.

9. What architectural style was your childhood home?
Military quarters, which I don't think ought to be a style but sorta is. I did spend quite a lot of time from age 9-17 in a rather nice Edwardian house of size, as it was my boarding house.

10. Who do you usually say hello or good morning first?
Thinking about it, I... don't usually say good morning to my Beast when he brings me my tea in bed, because mornings, and by the time I am human and dressed and downstairs it seems a bit redundant.

11. When was the last time you visited the park? Who did you go with?
Beast and I went to a quite pretty local park a few months back. There is a park literally opposite our house, but it isn't the kind that has flower beds. But we do walk through it to get to rehearsals.

12. What language did you take in high school?
French and German.

13. Have you ever been to a drive-in theater?
No.

14. Have you ever been on vacation with someone other than your family?
Yes! Camp Sparkle, for an annual week for more than a decade, with my internet-derived axe-murderer friends.

16. If you have a significant other, how long have you been together?
39 years. Eep.

17. Have you ever been a part of a wedding party?
I was a bridesmaid when my uncle got married and again when my grandma got married. Also, I was a bride.

19. (Okay, where did 18 go?) What was the last piece of furniture you purchased?
An enormous dining table (1.5m x 3m, oval)

20. Do you have an iPod?
Good heavens, no. I didn't even have an iPod when iPods were a Thing.

I hope Boy is still enjoying his new shiny.

It's amazing how everyone we meet up with from online is an axe murderer. I should have been beheaded many times over!

Ha! My family made the ax murderer internet friends joke when I first went to Camp Sparkle. They are everywhere!

I'm sure I would be the same were I to be so fortunate as to have someone do this for me. ;)

This is such a fab meme.

That would be wonderful! You have such a lovely house and I would love to see more of both Norwich and Norfolk. Hopefully things will calm down even more covid-wise so travelling won't be a problem for anyone *keeps fingers crossed* I agree that meeting in smaller groups sounds much better than splitting us between two locations. It's more fun if everyone's in the same place and it's easier to organise activities if the group's not too large. (Not to mention that as a not-terribly-social person I much prefer to socialise in smaller groups :-)

I think The Princess Bride most definitely counts as a comedy!

Also, now I am curious: what is the largest number of people you have had seated around your dining table?
