Still busy... I did have a very lazy Sunday, bestirring myself only to enrobe a pork fillet in some prosciutto and home-made pesto.

Yesterday was double exercise plus spending three-quarters of an hour at the bank with an employee who was on hold for all that time trying to get approval for the transfer of money from our account to our son. You'd have thought the bank would have wanted a more efficient use of their employees' time, really. And, seriously, we had a perfectly good explanation for why we wanted to make the transfer.

Today, Beast spent a similar amount of time on the phone waiting for approval on a much smaller transfer to his brother. Gah. We did some of our exercise routine while we waited, but warming up to hold music and frequent statements about how sorry they are to keep us waiting—hah!–is not quite as stimulating as warming up to tracks 3, 1 and 5 of 'Trespassing'.

This afternoon we mostly spent shredding. We bought a wood chipper, and after a few false starts (turns out it didn't like the very long extension cable) got through two huge piles of stuff which Beast had chopped from the hedges.

We had Tenors (including me) and Baritones (including neither of us) rehearsing here last night, and tonight I have an Unquartet. Well, there are four of us, but we're not looking to perform, just singing some of our repertoire together so that our MD can get to know the songs better as a Lead, and perhaps dig a little deeper into what she wants to do with them.

Performance tomorrow, possibly followed by a bevvy and late supper in the pub, which should be nice. And back to rehearsal on Thursday.... *so* many lateral flow tests. Sigh.

Haven't spent any time with my Yuletide request yet. Must do so.

I'm not sure why the bank would need approval from above for you to transfer money to anyone you wanted - nor why they needed any explanation (good or bad) of why you wanted to move your own funds about

It is rather weird, I think it's to do with potential fraud, although their methods for dealing with it all are pretty stupid. I would have thought "It's for my son, I am my late father's executor and Son is getting his inheritance" would be a perfectly reasonable answer. Apparently not. Hmph.

It's a really nice method - I've used it on chicken thighs and even a boned turkey leg once. Make a quick pesto, or use a bought one, spread it on top of the meat, and roll it up in prosciutto then roast for about 30 min. Yum!

Shredding sounds like it would be fun and satisfying.

Starting at the end... the performance on Wednesday night went very well, and we were each given an individual Thank You certificate, which I thought was very sweet. The evening included some more videos about what the place does, and really, it is an excellent thing and one I'm glad to have supported, in a small way.

The shredding was kinda fun! And I hope will help make good compost.

There's Stuff about fraud and money laundering and such, which really a dose of common sense at the point where you're talking to a cashier would be a better solution. Hah.

Wrapping stuff in prosciutto is a really nice and quick way to make it tastier!

What's wrong with using online banking?

I've never had any problems with large transfers online. They double check the account is genuine, but that doesn't take long at all.

And if it's to someone you've transferred money to before, there's no problem at all.

Well, for the larger sum on the first day, we thought maybe the bank would want us both to approve the transfer (though that turned out not to be the case). The second, smaller one actually *was* done online, but there was still a holdup. I don't *think* my Beast had had occasion to transfer money to his brother before, though. And having spoken to someone about it, the subsequent transfers went through with no problem (there's a transaction limit which was exceeded, hence subsequent transfers).

To be fair, Beast objected being sent texts about his money. They sent him a text asking him to reply Y or N, and he chose to go the long way round.

ahhh, bureaucracy!! I hope the money does eventually end up where it needs to be.

Singing just for the moment, without rehearsing for the future, sounds like a lovely way to spend an evening!
