good day for losing the blues
Mar. 19th, 2023 10:47 pmI have the lovely
chalcopyrite staying with me for a long weekend, the prime purpose of which was today±the East Anglian Yarn Fair! We met up with my regular knitting group and proceeded to the Norfolk Showground, where there was a fabulous abundance of lovely yarn to be had. An hour and a half after our arrival, we had made our way slowly through just one of the four aisles.... but we both achieved a great deal of fabulous loot, and she's already thinking about coming back again next time.
We went to East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens yesterday, where there were lots of beautiful hellebores and the shapes of the garden were very apparent. Minecraft trees (apparently). Long vistas. Really interesting contrasts. I think perhaps next year Beast and I should get a subscription and visit the place every month, to see how it changes with the seasons.
On Friday, we intended to go to the Makers' Market in the Forum, but forgot that was why we were in town and ended up in the Castle instead for the last hour of the day, where there is a display about the wreck of the Gloucester, a ship which foundered off the coast of Norfolk in 1682, mostly it seems due to the Dunning-Krueger-esque arrogance of the future James II. Also the process of discovering the wreck.
We're walking along a street underneath the city tomorrow. I may report further on this.

Date: 2023-03-21 05:31 pm (UTC)The garden visit sounds wonderful! It must have looked so different compared to last summer. I'm terribly envious you live close to such a fantastic garden.
I hope you'd fun in the underground!
