sticky sticky stick stick
Jul. 10th, 2023 09:34 pmWell. Camp Sparkle is different every year, but always manages to be fun.
A large, Edwardian house set amidst Yorkshire hills is a good place for Camp. Plenty of bedrooms, though the water pressure in the bathrooms was a bit lacking. Fantastic views. An easy walk down the hill and over the bridge to Settle, where there were Co-Ops and a posh Booth's supermarket, plus innumerable cafés (including The Old Naked Man Café, which does an excellent blt), flower pot people, and a lovely shop selling exclusive earrings and other craft/art objects.
Trips to Sizergh (stately home), White Scar Cave, Cliffe Castle and Bolton Abbey (I missed out on this one as my back was playing up) and Parceval Hall Garden. Afternoon Tea in Settle, jolly good. A visit to the Courtyard Dairy, where we were greeted by a woman who forced, forced, I tell you, morsels of magnificent cheese onto us. We bought several, plus damson paste and quince paste (both excellent) and had a cheese and charcuterie Moderately Tidy Dinner, and voted that Cheese must henceforth be given greater prominence as a Camp Sparkle Tradition. We talked of many things. We watched Hey Duggee, and now know the Stick song off by heart. (To be fair, it is not challenging, lyrics-wise.)
Sadly, I left the lads at home, so have no dramatic pictures of Nsync puppets with scenery.
Then, plunged right back into Norwich business, with a full day's rehearsal yesterday.
I trust everybody got home safely.

Date: 2023-07-11 04:08 pm (UTC)I wish I could have stayed a bit longer, both for the company and to have a proper wander through Settle.
Our journey home was beautiful, well until we hit Scotch Corner and left the countryside behind, and we got to see the viaduct, though I've forgotten its actual name.
