Beast and I also received a voucher for The Assembly House as an anniversary present, and went thither today for Afternoon Tea. And Afternoon Cheese, a savoury version of AT which turned out also to be jolly good.

It was a Peter Pan themed Afternoon Tea, which meant a gummy crocodile on top of the trifle, a biscuit with a cut-out Tinkerbell, a cupcake with a treasure map impaled onto it by a small cutlass, that kind of thing. Very cute, very tasty. Beast's Afternoon Cheese contained few sweet elements (basically, an excellent miniature Eccles cake), and lots of fine Norfolk cheese! I kept musing on the possibility of taking iconis to try it.

There were several small girls in their very best princess dresses being taken out for Afternoon Tea by mum, dad or the entire family. So cute! So impeccably behaved! One small girl had a handbag shaped like a dachsund, which I envied like mad.

Our bill was delivered to us in a treasure chest, accompanied by a couple of chocolate doubloons. \o/

Alas, we left the voucher at home. We shall have to go for Afternoon Tea again to make sure we use it.

Life is hard.

They do very cute, charming Afternoon Tea themes there. I think our first may have been the Rainbow Unicorn one, and we went with friends when it was an Alice in Wonderland theme.

Oh no, what a shame about the voucher. But at the same time, Afternoon Tea again. That's a big silver lining.

It was at the Assembly House we had afternoon tea last summer, right? I seem to remember my gluten free savoury things were much nicer than the sweet so I'm sure it's not only iconis who would like going there :-)

I think I might well go for the Afternoon Cheese myself, next time. The little cakes, etc are basically just variations on the theme of "put sugar into people", and I prefer the "put cheese into people" theme!
