The bloody squirrels have eaten all my sweetcorn! There were several cobs growing—we had one last week and it was nice, but pale, and I thought they could use a little longer. Went up the garden to pick a couple for lunch today, and the squirrels have stripped them open and gnawed the kernels! Little buggers.

If you have critters about, corn is one of the crops that really needs fencing -- squirrels, rabbits, skunks, deer, everyone loves corn.

A friend in Somerset gets very enraged about badgers stealing his sweetcorn! It didn't happen last year so I was lulled into a false sense of security.

How do you know it was squirrels and not rats? (The rats at our allotments were spotted climbing the stalks...)

Eek! I'm reasonably confident that the squirrels are guilty, as I saw them leaping into the corn stalks a couple of days before discovering the ruin....
